Until recently the land on which Pleasant Hill stands was largely agricultural. During the 1920s, the subdivision of land for housing started. Still, it wasn’t until the end of the Second World War that the city really started to develop. It was incorporated in 1961.

Today Pleasant Hill is a peaceful residential area with wide leafy streets and all the facilities that a family could need. The area is known for its beautiful city hall which opened in 1991, receiving several of architectural awards. The city fathers have recently been planning upgrades to the downtown area. They hope to accomplish their long-held vision for a walkable city center.
